Poetry: Tiel Aisha Ansari

Soul Music

The lonely desert echoes to a lonely cry, the same sound reverberates in neon alleyways.
The heart reads its own compass
and knows no other geography.

Who is it that weeps among the jackals and wolves?

This is the sound of the reed flute wailing.
This is the blues harmonica playing.
This is the tongue of the soul crying out to God.
